Clara Kramer (neé Schwartz) of Zolkiew, who survived the war together with 17 others in a bunker, has written of their long ordeal.

The book has been published in English and many other languages and has become a best seller.

Darkness and hope

Sam Halpern’s book depicts the life of the author and his family and the miracle of their survival. The preface was written by the well-known writer, Eli Wiesel.

Sam Halpern is married to Giza Halpern, neé Landau, of Zolkiew.

Sam and his family live in New Jersey, where they do great work and contribute much to our organization. Sam is known as a great philanthropist who contributes to Jewish and Israeli causes.
Giza and Sam have four children, Freddy, David, Jack and Murray, who are involved in the activity and contribute generously to our organization.
The members of the organization wish Giza and Sam good health and long life!
